D-LITE (Bigbang) first single is a cover of Yutaka Ozaki’s classic song ‘I Love
You’. Let’s talk about the charm of his works and his solo
activities.
D-LITE would like to spend time with his fans from now on
Bigbang’s main vocals D-LITE has released his Japanese single. He collaborated
with violinist Hakase Taro and covered Yutaka Ozaki’s classic ballad song ‘I
Love You’.
“Hakase Taro is a world renowned violinist and he’s a great person. I was
able to receive energy just by listening to his violin melody. During recording
sessions, I always had to listen to the instruments melody repeatedly to decide
what suits my voice and how I have to sing the song. But for this time, I only
had to listen to Hakase Taro’s violin sounds only once or twice before knowing
what I had to do.”
After that, D-LITE was able to interpret ‘I Love You’ in a whole new way. He
kept the idea of the original song and his beautiful falsetto left a deep
impression on us.
“When covering Yutaka Ozaki’s song, what I love the most about it is the
content of the lyrics. This song is trying to sketch a love between two people.
It’s a love that nobody allows them to continue on.. This scene seems to be a
scene from the movies and the image came into my mind naturally. I wanted to emphasize
on the sadness and strength their love possesses in the song so I had a
discussion with producer Seiji Kameda and he helped me re-arrange the song. Of
course, I had to add my own colors into the song and express the feelings that
the lovers’ in the song wanted listeners to feel without ruining the original
song.”
In this single, there are also live versions of your solo tour in Nippon
Budokan.
“Before I started my solo tour, I had the concept of creating a warm live
and it would be great if my music could give off that vibe. The only difference
between my solo tour and Bigbang’s tour is that I will be standing on stage
myself. When on stage, the source of energy from fans and my staff members is
very important and great. As this is my first time having this experience, this
was a new discovery.”
D-LITE who is constantly growing in solo activities spoke about his future
plans on music.
“For my solo activities in Japan, I have learnt and experienced a lot from
the start right up till now and I have to thank my fans and staff members for
creating these beautiful memories. The future will be the same as my past, no
matter what genre or style the song is, I will still sing it if I like the
song. My thoughts and feelings are constantly changing together with the song
and I believe that it is only at that point of time where my voice will appear.
Then, I hope to continue my future path with my fans that have been supporting
me throughout. This is my plan. I am not trying to show off but to create
together and to charge forward together will, and always be my dream.”
Bigbang’s 6 dome tour starts in November.
“I am looking forward to it too. Everybody has been busy because of their
respective solo activities and I think it has been about 2 months since we last
met (laugh). Stepping into August, all 5 of us will gather again and at that
time, our energy will be greater because of our experiences and I am
anticipating what new things can be created.”
What do you do when you met with an obstacle?
I will use about 2 days to relax and rest. I will stop listening to
music; I will watch movies, play sports, play games and do different things.
Because by doing this, I am able to refresh myself and my brain will then
become clearer and I can start doing my music work and think of new concepts.
