White Day Special
D-LITE
I grew up listening to different genre of J- Pop songs such as Ken Hirai etc.
The Television (TTV): Bigbang’s world tour which mobilized 800,000 fans has ended successfully the day before. Amongst them, D-LITE whose singing skills have been receiving praise will be debuting in Japan with his solo J-Pop cover!
D-LITE: I carried interest with J-Pop since last time and I grew up listening to many different singers songs such as Ken Hirai and Mika Nakashima etc. So when the company suggested me to do this album, I agreed and said “You must let me try”. I feel that this is a rare opportunity. This time round for all the 12 songs in the album, I considered the content of the lyrics and whether the song suits my voice before selecting it. It does not matter if the songs are famous, I decided based on my own gut feelings.
TTV: There is a rich variety of songs in your album, every song are able to capture the listeners’ hearts due to your rich performance. Was the recording sessions smooth?
D-LITE: I will always sing thinking about the impression I have of the original song. But for MISIA san’s “Missing You Now”, it was really hard thinking about the huge imagination it gives. It took me the longest period of time amongst all the songs to let the impression settle down. I think that it was due to all the time spent on these products which is why I got the results that I am satisfied with now! And also, when singing “Joyful”, it makes me go back to my childhood times. I feel really happy and for “Tonight Boogie Back”, I sang it by dancing happily (laugh). I also challenged a sad story scene for the title track “Singer’s Ballad”, so please take note of it.
TTV: You will be holding your one man live at the end of March! You received the members support and you are thinking how to plan your live now?
D-LITE: After letting the members listening to “Singer’s Ballad”, all of them said it was very sweet. However, half of what they said were actually praising me, so it gave me confidence (laugh). It is uneasy for me alone to be a MC, but I will anticipate the interactions I have with everybody. I hope to create a concert that allows people to leave their memories behind.
TTV: In Korea, April is “Black Valentines”?!
D-LITE: The return gift for White Valentines is just sending a normal gift, isn’t that very uninteresting? So I will wrap myself as a present and roll to my girlfriend’s house, sending her “D-LITE”! (laugh). Also there is a custom in Korea, if there are singles on both 14th February and 14th March, the single people have to eat zhajiangmian on 14th of April. During middle school times, I ate zhajiangmian with my classmates while crying (laugh).
