Bigbang’s main vocal D-LITE’s first Japanese solo single release
Using “voice” to communicate with Hakase Taro
SKAPER: Popular group Bigbang’s main vocal D-LITE will be covering Yutaka Ozaki’s classic song ‘I Love You’ as his first solo single. He released his J-Pop cover album “D’scover” this February and although he received good reviews, he said that he still has important things to take note of during this cover song.
D-LITE: “The original songs has their own fans, all of them will have their memories about this song. During cover, I have to note not to spoil those memories. I have to add my own colors to the foundation of the song. ‘I Love You’ will be the title track for a TV series, so I have to pay attention to the atmosphere the TV series gives off.”
SKAPER: For this song, it has become a topic since it is a collaboration between Daesung and world renowned violinist Hakase Taro.
D-LITE: “Actually, I was a little worried before meeting Mr. Hakase Taro. As he is a figure in the world level, there is an image where he is strict and it will let people be afraid of him… However after meeting him, he is actually a very happy and warm person. When speaking about the song, although he did not mention anything directly, but during recording, after listening to Mr. Hakase Taro’s violin music, I know clearly how to sing this song. I have to sing it with strength, at times soft and sad but not losing hope.. It matches perfectly with the impression I had with the original song.”
SKAPER: We also talked about working with the top artist and creator in Japan and how it became a great source of strength for him.
D-LITE: “Sasaji Masanori who helped me produce ‘D’scover’ also used voices to help me portray my idea for this song. “Trying to emphasize on 2 people’s love and courage”. I am very thankful for him, if I had a chance in future, I would like to produce with him new work.”
He will start being Bigbang in November and start the first 6 dome tour by overseas artists.
D-LITE: “When we decided on the tour, my brain constantly comes up with images of my activities in Japan. We can be in such a huge venue and hold our concert is because of the support by our fans. I will prepare with my utmost best, to allow everybody to see a perfect performance.”
